BTA is smoking [Archive]

At least that is what it looks like coming out of the end of his tips. A few (2-3) of them have done it, it looked freaky happy early today and now has that I am sad anemone look to it. It has done the big small thing many time but I have never noticed the smoke looking stuff.
Anyone?

Spawning eh, cool I guess. Just did a big water chg and plan another this weekend that plus skimmer and I should be fine, right?

Your corals should love it.
My big BTA has done it a few times and it clouds the whole tank.
I did not know what it was when I first came home and saw the cloudy tank. It scared me. But then I saw where it was coming from.

Your corals should love it.
No one looks any better but more importantly no one looks for the worse, all seems well in tank-ville.

You know, my BTA, which I have been refering to as a long tentacle for ever but bought as a BTA, looks exactly like the one in the link to Melev's Reef. I have noticed that type of event occuring quite frequently and never thought anything of it. I've never had a problem with water quality or anything. Why would you have to do a water change quickly? What could it hurt if it is just a little extra natural "protein" in the water?

At it again, whole tank is whited out. Snails last night and the BTA again tonight.
15 Feb was the last time it did it, never saw it before now twice in 18 days.

I had a similar experience. Not to scare you but after the fact mine was gone like just turned into dust. I don't understand this stuff!

Atlanta, TX? I had an armory there, closed now but structure is still there I am told.

Mine is doing fine, strange what happened to yours.
