Any idea what this is? It's about the size of a BB. I think it's some kinda snail but it doesn't move. It's been in the same place for a couple weeks. I've found about 3 others that are the size of a pinhead.

if your talking about the green spot, it's hard to tell because of the picture, but it looks like velonia, a pest bubble algae.

You can manually remove it by gently worrying it off the rock with your fingertips. Try not to pop it. there is some debate that the fluild inside is filled w/ spores, but many say that the fluid only fills after a certain size. i say it' sbest to remove it without popping it period. :)

the texture reminds me of that plastic crap you would buy as a kid, stick it in a straw and blow on it, it makes a bubble then hardens. I actually like fiddling with the stuff after it's out of my tank.

<--- sad commentary on my lack of a life!

Looks like that's what it was. I thought it was a critter because I thought I saw it poke it's head out at night once. Musta been a 'pod or something. The texture seemed more like a Nyquil Liqui-gel to me but I do remember that plastic stuff. Do they still sell that?

Remove it by just kind of rolling it off of the rock is the method I use. Just don't bust it in the tank or you'll have them multiply quicker than they already will.

We're going to be talking about bubble algae at the meeting this month.
