I am just sick. Friday evening when I got home from work I went to check on my tank (the first thing I do everynight :) . My 2 frogspawns, 1 leather, and bubble tip were completly melted, and my tank was cloudy. I check my water temp and it was 92 degrees. Hubby says it is because I let the house get to hot. I have the heat on, but with the high temps during the days nothing is on. Can 80 degrees cause the tank temp to rise that high? I had some problems for awhile after I got my outer orbit lighting, but nothing like this. Anyway I did a 30 gal water change to try and get the toxins from the melted corals out. Can someone tell me where I can get some fans so I do not have this happen again. With the cold front coming in the temp has gone down, but I don't want to wait to get some. I have other corals that are fine, anenomes hammer, clams, brains, zoo's etc. All Fish and inverts are fine so far.
Should I do anything else. Please help

Can you tell us a little about your tank? Size, lighting type and wattage, pumps - size & external or submerged, do you have a sump or fuge, does your tank have a closed canopy or glass top with lighting over it??

The problem probably wasn't the temp in the house but rather the humidity. We had that drizzly weather on Friday and the humidity was probably close to 100%. When the humidity is high you have no evaporation. No evaporation = no cooling. Fans help break up the layer of heavy, saturated, humid air over the top of the tank and increase evaporation.
I would continue with your water changes, skim hard, and run carbon to help get over your current crisis. Even some clip on type fans from Walmart may help if you are in a bind. Without know how your tank is set up I can't really give you any ideas on what you need in the way of fans. It really depends on what kind of light you are running. Obviously, with MH you have more heat and more need more cooling. After having gone through a similar crisis I tripled the cooling capacity of my fans. I have extra fans I only run when I need more cooling. As a matter of fact I am putting in a heater to help keep it from getting too cool in the evenings.

Removing the glass top will help a lot. The glass prevents evaporation. In addition it really cuts back on the light transmission to your tank.
