View Full Version : Austin Area Frag Swap, March 4th

thedude
Tue, 7th Feb 2006, 02:38 AM
Here is the lowdown for what the frag swap will be:

Location: Austin Aquariums Classroom
When: Saturday March 4th, approximately 2 pm
What:

I hope to get a good collection of Austin reefers to bring in frags of whatever they've got for trading and selling. The easiest way to do this would be for everyone to individually bag frags and bring their own cooler to keep them in. At the very least, bring them in a cooler and I'm sure we can find some bags! AA will be getting some frags in as well and I'll have a group order from sea biscuits shortly so check the Group Orders forum.

Please feel free to post suggestions, or pictures of what you have to frag so that someone can at least get a feel for some of what will be there.

I hope to see everyone there.

John

Remember to tell all the reefers you know! This is for both fraggers and fraggees. I should have some type of flier printed up by the weekend.

Sorry guys, I have never been to a "frag swap". Do people just trade frags or do you all sell them as well? I am a newbie and don't really have much, therefore I cannot offer any, but I would be willing to buy some if people are willing to sell. I am looking for a "green slimer".

Thanks,
George

People sell frags and barter frags for frags as well. It's really all up to the individual seller but not many people say no to cash ;)

Is anyone else bringing sps besides the people that already listed their stuff? In addition to what i listed I also have bright pink millepora and a couple frags of blue encrusting montipora. Just trying to judge how much stuff to bring.

I will be attending as well. As I am new, I do not have stuff to trade :( Sorry. I will be coming and will purchase quite a few things. More different colors I get, the better. If you think I would be interested in anything in particular, let me know and I will bring money specirfically for those frags. Thanks, Jill

Good I'm glad to see people coming out of the woodworks! I was pretty afraid for awhile that it would be me all alone in the classroom lol.

greatwit, I'd like a frag of the blue encrusting montipora if the price isn't too bad. I don't have anything to trade yet.

I would like to see that orange yuma.

I got lucky...my fish allowance starts at the first of the month and this frag swap is the first weekend.

For those who are thinking of purchasing with cash:

A rough estimate on how much people may want per frag might be helpful. 5,10,20 depending on rareness or coloration? Less, more depending?

Thanks~

For those that are selling...will yall have pictures of your frags? I imagine most frags will be closed, no?

I also expect to be in Austin tomorrow and Saturday, and would like to attend and bring money. I am a new member to MAAST, and although I am one of those people who don't like to join groups that would have me as a member, I would like to say that I am very impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of the folks who post here. Thank you all for making a great website available to us amateurs out in the wilderness.

How does one get on the Austin Aquariums list?

Hopefully someone will bring some cheato?

Yeah, does anyone have some desirable algae they want to get rid of/sell cheap? I would like some as well.

See you all tomorrow! My kids are coming too to check everything out. :roll

Oh, I have a couple of tank bred Clark clowns that I am bringing along. I planned to trade them to Austin Aquariums for some other fish/store credit (the biggest one is picking on a couple of mine), but I would rather sell them to a MAAST member that would love them so they would not have to make 2 moves. I am asking $15 each. They are both healthy and have been fed frozen mysis, formula 1, and cyclopeez twice a day..all soaked in garlic. They do not have to stay together. Send me a pm if you are interested.

Well, I got done preparing for my daughter's party early enough to make it out to the swap! I'm not quite ready to put inverts in the tank (want to upgrade skimmer, lights, etc. first) but it was great meeting fishypets, loans n fishes, Big Byrd, the dude, and all the other great people who came out.

Oh, and I figured out what the Austin Aquariums list was. I didn't even know there was a fish store back there until I read about it here! :o
