CHILLERS?

I would like some feedback on personal experiences with chillers. I am looking at a coralife aquachill 1/2 hp for a 215 gal tank. 3-250mh & 2-160vho. Any suggestions always appreciated.

I haven't used one yet but I'm going to go with a Prime Chiller by current.

I have a 1HP Pacific Coast, and previuosly had a 1/3HP Pacific Coast on my 125. I was fairly happy with the 1/3HP, and the 1HP has been great!

I'm using an Aqua-Logic drop in, can't remember if it's 1/3 or 1/2 on my 100 gallon. I've probably got a total of around 150 gallons with sumps and all and it works great, too great when my controllor froze up and let the chiller go all night.

I have the 1hp unit from Victor on ebay (as does Scuba Steveo and Gator). It's great. Looks like a Pacific Coast, but cost a bunch less. Good quality.

I paid just over a grand delivered!

Although mine is too small to work well on your tank, my 1/10th hp Pacific Coast works great on my system. It keeps the water at 77degrees for a ~100 gallon system (55 display and the rest in the sump) with a 250w Halide and 190w of VHO's.

I have one in my attic from a previous tank that I don't need anymore. Been thinking of selling it. I think it's a quarter or 1/3 HP, I'll have to look. It worked great, I just don't need it on my current tank because I'm not running MH's.

I am currently useing a 1/3 hp chiller made by Custom Sealife, with a dual stage controller. Wouldn't go any other way. Use to do the fan thing butt evaporation was a mother, and so was the salt creep. Not to mention the fans are always on, creating a constant noise, where the chiller turns on for about 20+/- minutes and is off for about 2 hours+/-. Chillers are deffinately a good investment IMO.

I ended up getting the aqua chill 1/2 hp chiller by coralife. Thanks for all the info.
