Coral grown from a frag

Actually, it wasn't even a frag. The orginal A. millepora was touching the rock, and a small puddle the size of a dime grew ever so slowly. I watched it for months and months, and one day is sprouted a bump. As of yesterday, easily a year later, here it is:

Pretty cool. I have several spots like that in my tank. It sure takes a long time for them to sprout upwards.

I have that same color milli too. :)

Thanks Alton. Don't worry, I'm not looking to sell. I wait forever for growth, and tend to keep them in my reef. Once my tank is full, I'll be more likely to share frags.

I had a beautiful colony of Porites cylindrica that I lost during one of my numerous moves. I was totally heart broken at its loss. When setting up my tank after getting back to SA I found on spot that was encrusted on some LR about the size of a dime. A little over 2 years later and that is a 8 inch colony with at least 50 branches. I give frags away of it to just about anyone that is getting started with SPS because it is such a tolerant and fast growing coral. If I didn't frag it so often it would probably be twice the size it is now.

Here are a couple.

A. Youngi (Bali green slimer)

A. Aculues ROAB LE Coral

Both Actinic shots as my big lights aren't on yet.

The Slimer is just shy of 2 years old. It was a single "Y" 3" branched frag. I've also cut OVER 24 2-3" frags from this colony in the two years.

Second is blue tips with teal branches. Started out as a 3/4" frag about 1 year old....but, I cut the colony in HALF at one point and fragged half of it up!

Marc, its very nice of you to visit us from DFWMAS. I have seen your tank online, its awesome. I also like your acrylic work, I have copied a few of your ideas. BTW, great looking corals.

Thank you very much. I know we are several hours away, but I always hope to join you guys in some of your events some day. Like back in November, I think you guys had a special meeting at Sea World, right? I really wanted to attend, but I think that date didn't work with my schedule.
