Yeah,Its quite easy.. remove the lights in your tank, stop feeding it and poke it with a stick..that will turn it white and eventually die.

It's natural color is going to be brown, it was unanturally made white to be able to sell it. It's turning brown is purely natural and sounds like it's doing good then.

The brown color is probably from its own pigments as well as the growth of zooanthellae alge in its tissue. Its a good thing.

Lesson for the day: Do some research on any species you are not familiar with before making a purchase. I can remember several years ago there was an LFS in SA that used to sell dyed anemones. They were real pretty. After you got them home they would revert to their normal color, if they survived that is. Dying any critter has to be stressful. That stress, on top of the other stresses it goes through in shipping and repeated acclimations is bad enough. It could be that your anemone was starved for light during shipping, at the wholesaler, and at the LFS. White is not a healthy color for any photosynthetic anemone. If you want a white anemone I might suggest a condylactis. I would suggest you research it before buying one. It has a couple of negative characteristics you should know about before making a purchase.

I have a copy of Robert Fenner's Invert and Scott Michaels's Fish handbooks I carry with me in the car. I might suggest you also invest in them. Most shops might have them, but in case they don't you have a pretty good reference library you can count on. I often refer to them when considering buying a species I am not familiar with or helping someone else in the same situation.

Well in all the photos of this anemone that i have seen and scuba diving over sea ive seen them as white with purple tips. When i boughtit it was white. I just thought that it was diatoms attaching to it, thanks

I'm quoting here.

"Heteractis crispa (Sebae anemone) is usually light tan to brown in color, and may have purple tips on its tentacles."
