I think i have come to a conclusion about why my zooanthids are not doing very well in my nano. I have been using windmill water and running phosban. The phosban is a few weeks old now and algae is starting to appear again, so i think i have an excess of phosphates from the windmill water. Can an excess of phosphates cause zoos to not open? I did a water change with some RO water from Ace and everything did well after that, but since i have done more water changes with windmill....

well 1 colony i've had for like a year and it always did good in my other tank, but in my nano it jsut wont really open up. I take it fo FinAddict and let it rehibilate there, then bring it back and it still wont open, thats been the cycle for the last few months...

Try a 75% water change using RO/DI water with zero tds. Sounds like the water youre using for top off has some contaminates in it. Get rid of the PO4 remover and use pure water from the start.

why dont you just get water from your work and use that? if you suspect the windmill (those water filling stations with a windmill right?) water is the culprit, why keep using it???

i use the water station @ HEB on 10 @ wurzbach and ive never had a problem with it. i would be wary of water-filling stations at corner stores though... more than once ive encountered machines at corner stores that say theyve been serviced in the last few days, but the water tastes horrible.

also, why dont you test you RO water before you use it if you suspect it might be contaminated? like i said, if you think the windmill water is contaminated, get your water from another source till you can confirm it.

/glad hes never had a tank crash
//glad hes only had one tank leak on him

Get a tds meter and test the water before you use it.

At midnight (or later if if you stay up late) with a flashlight inspect your zoos for snails. If you find any on the zoos that you have not seen before remove it or them because you may have sundials. If anything you can rule out that possibility.
