Ross what size is your tank? Is that a terrace you have set up in the back?

I'm pretty certain the clam is not very healthy. His mantle extends upwards more than outwards, not like most healthy clams you see. If you look at the very bottom left of the clam where the mantle and the shell connect you will notice how extended it is. I do feed him phytoplex and he does enjoy that so i will keep it up. He is in a 12g tank, and yes that is a little terrace i setup just to keep the rock off the bottom and hopefully elminate alot of detritus that would build up back there...

Maybe it's just trying to follow the light. ;)

I'm not sure if anyone has had that much light over a clam around here or not, if so maybe they have some experience.
