OK, I'm taking the "big tank plunge". Pete and Mikey talked me into it. Actually, it didn't take that much talking. We've been looking at a spot in our house that's PERFECT for a 215: It makes a wall between our master bedroom and the dining room, with a wet bar next to it. It's going to take some modifications to the tank, but the consensus is that it can be done.

This project is going to take a while. I don't have the spot even started for it. I've got to check, I may have to put a wall header in. Electric's going to need some work too. Mikey wants it out by Saturday, so I guess it'll be in the middle of my garage for a while! I've been in the hobby over 35 years, but this is my first go at a big one. I'm looking forward to the group's input on this - please feel free to jump in with advice!

bill, are you using mikey's filtration? if not, i would suggest looking at some other big systems to design your filtration. you are welcome to come by and see my setup - which is in wall and a room divider btw) if you would like, and im sure others with large systems would be glad to show you their setups to give you some ideas. sounds like you have plenty of experience and patience, so im sure it will turn out awesome!

Bill, congrats - cant go wrong with this tank! ... you should buy Gator's too, then Mike's could be your "Nano" ;)

Somebody needs to grab this skimmer, just like mine & Dan's but with twice the pumps/bubbles! Mike, you selling the Oz generator with the skimmer?

Carlinsa is keeper of the cart, better get it reserved! That tank is 550 lbs empty :o I have one just like it, helped Mike move his, and my back remembers both of them!

Mike said he was going to throw in the first tank full of water for free, so it might weigh a little more then 550.

How much? Is it priced per pump or per bubble?

Seriously, send me a pm Mike. I might be interested and I know someone who also might be interested.

Just for the record, Mike's skimmer is the big turbo floater with 2 ocean runner pin wheel pumps and a pan world drive pump. It'll suck everything but the salt out of the water.

Just in case anybody is wondering, where the cart is, I have it at home, I borrowed it after Jeff and Angela's 180 move, it help me and 7 other people lift my 215 brick to the height of 47" and yeah 550 pounds divided by 7 over 47= seven people with back pain :D :D :D :P :P :P

any way whom ever wants to pick up the cart, PM me for directions

Jose

Thanks for all of the encouragement, folks. Yup, I'll need a new filtration system/skimmer. It needs to go under the tank. Ace, I'd LOVE to look at your setup.

Oh, Susan, my neighbor who works for me, wanted to remind everyone that it's going upstairs.... NOT - it's going downstairs. Actually, it can back right into the garage until construction is complete (started?).
