I have a 48" Odyssea fixture and I need to replace the ballasts. It is set up with 4 x 24w T5's with a ballast for each light. I have not had any lighting from my T5's since Nov. !! My MH's are getting tired...

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am not an electrician and am new to the hobby.

A ballas for each light is not right at all. But ou never know with those Jebo/Odyssea lights. Probably could get a couple of Workhorse 5 ballasts I think and that should fix the proble if it is the ballasts. Do you have a volt meter that will test the continuity(sp) of the curcuit to indeed see if it is the ballast?

Yeah, a single Workhorse 5 could actually drive all four 24W of those T5's

Wouldnt I have to re-wire? The ballasts are currently on either side of the interior of the fixture.

Couldn't say for sure, but most likely. Here's the wiring diagram:

speaking of ballasts...how about one to run 4 and 6 T-5 HO 36 inchers. I am trying to decide if I build my own lighting or buy prefab.

I know many have their opinions about the Jebo/Odyssea stuff but I am really leaning towards those to start and upgradeing things as able or needed. I am going to take a look at some at lunch today or tomorrow and see if worth messing with at all. At $55 for a two tube fixture with ballast and bulbs I dont see how I can go wrong. I will be slowly setting up a 30/30 soon and I suspect I will growing out a lot of live rock and sand for a few months so I can always give them a good test run at that time. Too much to think about really. Any opinions?

Jebo/odyssea are ok when it comes down to pc lights, the MH units have been reported to star fires, but only in the MH units, I got 2 48" 96w pc jebos and I am very satisfied with the performance and looks, only thing is that they came with one plug and 3 switches, so I had them wire independently and no complaints here

Especially if you want to upgrade from your standard T5's to my HO t5's Mine are 312 watts of power has 3 ballast and 3 switchs Looking to get a pendant, that I can put my 3 MH's and 4 VHO's in.
