Here in town there is some one I know who is selling a 150 Oceanic with stand (ugly looking stand) for $300. The catch is that this tank once leaked but that is how he purchased it. He let me know that he removed all the old silicone and resealed it. He has tested it with half full of water and has let me know we can do another test if I want full of water. The leak was at the bottom portion of the tank. Is it safe to purchase this tank? Have any of you ever had a leak on your tanks, if so, are they reparable? I have lots of live rock and a good amount of crush coral to worry about. Please help me with this as I do not want to worry about water leaking on the middle of the night one day. Thank you all who read this post.
Sincerely,
Fabian

Hey Fabian, hows it going bud? Id say go for it. I did the same with mine. I took all of the silicone and resealed it. Doesnt leak at all. I just set it up yesterday by the way. Good luck with it.

Have him fill it with water and let it sit there for at least an hour. If he re-sealed it himself, see if he did a good job or not. Then make him a lower offer because that is always a good idea :)

i'd have him fill it, then let it stand for a few days.

i have heard of tanks holding water for several days before leaking. i wouldnt take the chance - the tank is one of the cheapest things to buy in this hobby. you could get a new one for way less than it would cost you to replace all of your live rock.

Tis true. I'm always one to save a buck, but with a tank that big there's a huge investment at stake.

Very true you could also take it to a reputable place to have it resealed or maybe see what Oceanic would do since it may be under warranty.

Thank you all for answering my post. I actually did the smart thing and told wife about it. She let me know how could I be buying such a small tank? She wants a 200+ aquarium; I was so happy to hear her say those words, that I almost asked her to re-marry me! Now that I have her O.K. on a bigger thank (over 150g) now I can save my money and slowly purchase all items. The last thing I want is to wakeup on the middle of the night to find all my beautiful animals on the floor. Thank you for your help, take care and hope to hear from all of you soon!!
Sincerely,
Fabian Salcedo
P.S.
I will be in Austin for 6 days (Super Bowl Weekend) till Friday February 10th. Let me know if any of you want anything form the Valley (Rio Grand Valley).

i wouldn't chance it, if it leaked b4 it can leak again unless it was professionally sealed!! just my 2 cents!!
