I guess I never realized how my extra large anemone placed dead front and center in my 125 kept the sand from blowing in my 125. Since I have removed him I can not get the sand to stop blowing around. I have tried moving clams in the location where the anemone was to act as a shield but no help. I am hoping someone here has encountered this before and has a solution. The streams are placed inside the two overflows aimed at the center of the tank. I have tried to rotate the streams and still blows sand. I am thinking about placing the streams on the sides of the tank and facing the rockwork. I am worried that this will be too much flow and damage tissue on the sps. If anyone has any ideas I would much appreciate them.
Thanks in advance
Clint

You don't want direct flow on the corals themselves. You may want to think about using a different tip on the returns to get more diffuse flow instead of a direct stream.

Gary,
The streams have a cross cut end that cuts the velocity in 4ths.

How about putting in a Y to cut the flow by another half?

So what is causing the sand storm? The Tunze or the retuurns?

No, not on a stream. It sounds like you have a huge amount of flow in your tank.
What kind of sand do you have?

What I meant was what particle size is it? If you have sugar fine, you can put a layer of special grade (2 mm) on top of it. That should help.

It is not the sugar stuff, I would say medium. I will find out the exact size tomorrow. Thanks Gary.

Use a multi controller and turn them down..........................Green Mako has a brand new one that I just sold him that he is looking to get rid of.........

I have the multicontroller and have tried different settings. Either blows sand or not enough current.

take the sand out and go Bare Bottom, seriously though, it should settle down on it's own. It will probably blow away the sand in that area and it will settle to the sides. If not, then I don't know.

It will take some a week or so for the sand to settle. I had the same problem in my 125 when I first got my tunze's
