Anyone know what my new friend is? Last night while sitting in the dark and tank watching I notice this little fellow on a rock, it was very fast when I tried catching it. It is in my sump now but still I am curious, looks like a land slug.
The snails are the harmless ones but I have thousands so whenever I night watch I grab a few and sump-em.

I have a ton of those little round ones. From what I have seen they don't harm anything and are probably eating alot of algea as I sleep at night. The longer guy, is good also. You want those. It should have a little half shell right behind his head.

It did/does have a hard looking shell on the front, I thought it did but figured I was crazy now you confirmed it.
So what is it?

How are my dogs doing?

Looks like a stomatella snail to me. Very good to have in my opinion. http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/main_pages/faq_rock2.htm

I looked at that site first and didn't see anything, I guess if I looked at it from the bottom it might look like the one in the pic.

It is a stomatella, in the monoplacofora group. A chiton is in the polyplacofora group.

All my stomatellas are black actually. They've never harmed anything except the miscellaneous diatom.
