Well, I've been reading about all the benifits of have a Refuge. I had it made up in my mine that I needed one. So I called around looking for anyone in town that carried one. Well, I found one at TT for $250 - a tad more than I could afford. So, I called the last place on my list (Wolf Reef, sorry) and I asked. All I got was a chuckle, "Hey man, why don't you just build your own, man" I was completely dumbfounded. "Build My own?" Then I chuckled. Well, I bought a 2 1/2 gallon tank, small yes, and my trusty dremel and favorite Diamond bit and went to work. An hour later and "BAM" an instant Refuge. Right now it's sitting over my 55. I'll be going over to get my Chaetomorpha from Wolf Reef later, placing my lights, and We'll see where it goes. It's my first attempt and I really don't know what I'm really doing, so don't bash me too bad. :unsure

Thanks Alamo, well it's been running for a week now. How quickly does a refugium start to affect an aquarium? Because I been running water tests, first when I set it up and now after a week and I'm getting significant positive changes on Amonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates.

How much flow are you running through your refugium?

This is the pump I'm using, "Miny Might". Claims 300gph at tank level and at the heigt it's at (according to the box) I imagine 100gph staight into a Spray bar. Tons on Pods in there, all over the glass.

Do you have plans for the eductor? Looks good. I've been thinking about trying to make one. How does it work?

wow...nice work!!
IF you want to raise the water level in the fuge to add a little more volume and bring the water level to the top just add a 90 to the drain and face it upwards... ;)
