i want a lense i can take pics at night with NO flash and still get a good pic. i figure there are alot of people out there that might have an idea. my camera is a Cannon digital rebel. ]

check out the 50mm f1.8 they are reasonable priced < $70
it is fixed length though

cool i really like takeing pics at night an it is hard to do. the flash makes the pics to bright. what about a lense that is adjustable.

keep in mind what you want typically doesnt come cheap
if i were you i would look into an external flash. a 420ex can be had for $200ish and you can then bounce your flash or put a dampener on it. it would make a HUGE improvement over your stock flash.

Any of the lenses that are f1.8 or f1.4 or lower are excellnet low light lenses. As mention the 50/1.8 is one of the least expensive lenses that you can buy. But it is still a nice sharp lens. Also, consider some of the IS lenses. They can produce fairly sharp pics in low light. You can also bump ISO to get your shutter speed up too. Just keep in mind - if you bump ISO you also introduce more noise into your pics. Oh and hte 50/1.8 is a great lens for reef/fish photography too.
