After receiving a great deal of feedback from our members, and an on-going discussion in the Charter Member’s forum, the following changes will be implemented over the next few weeks:

1) Vulgarity filters currently change filtered words to “x-word”, these will be changed to either eliminate the word completely or replace with “***”, depending on what can be accomplished with the forum software
2) Forum moderators will recommend additional filtered words as needed
3) Re-instate the ability to "Report" a thread to a moderator which you feel requires their attention
4) Moderator assignments are being reviewed by the Board of Directors and will be adjusted as required to have moderators for each forum
5) Inappropriate posts (vulgarity, implied vulgarity, flaming, selling illegal goods, etc., etc.) will result in a warning from the forum moderator
6) After three warnings, the user’s account will be deleted and if a charter member, charter membership will be terminated with no refund of membership dues
7) The Education Committee will soon be publishing a reference library, members are encouraged to supply appropriate links to the library to answer member's questions.
8 ) Our members have clearly stated that they expect their BOD members to be held to a higher standard. The 2006 MAAST Board of Directors have all committed to:
- Be role models to our members in the way we conduct ourselves on these forums
- Be Pro-active in answering questions and providing links to the library and other Internet content
- Make attempts via PMs to redirect new and existing members that are being obnoxious to other members
- SERIOUSLY review any BOD member's post which results in a first moderator’s warning

Thank You – MAAST 2006 Board of Directors

agreed - I think for the most part the MAAST forums have been fairly tame with a few notable exceptions... but I especially like the part about obnoxious behavior. I detest it when a member puts on a holier than thou attitude when dealing w/ new hobbyists and am glad there will be action taken on this.

it's clear that we have some members of the board who are truely concerned with the advancement of the club, as well as the hobby as a whole. i appreciate the time, energy, and thought that you all give freely to the club, and look forward to possitive changes.

Trust me, these changes don't have to do entirely with you. Look back at many posts where questions are asked and a useless answer is posted, all the language being used in general, and there are many people being disrespectful to others.

At the same time read and take notice because hopefully everyone will get the message that this is considered a family oriented forum and the BOD and other elected officials are going to take it serious.

Many thanks for the implementation of these new and well overdue rules although much of this problem has gotten worse over the last year or so.

The only way MAAST can improve is by our members speaking up! Please, if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to PM any BOD or Club Officer. This is your club too! The BOD and Club Officers need your help in making MAAST as BEST as it can be!!! Also, remember this, the BOD, Club Officers and Mods are all volunteers so any help from the membership is always welcome and appreciated!!

I re-upped my dues (paid for 2006) the very same day that I read a post where one of the BOD's was talking about being aware of these type of problems and that some changes were needed and that they were going to be addressed based on our input. Hopefully that makes it clear how much I appreciate the topic being addressed.

Good to know :D .

I know for me personally the language doesn't bother me, but when some people are really harsh and make others feel stupid it bugs me.

Then again some people are bothered by the language and I can respect that. I just watch my mouth when I'm on here 8)

not just you mike, youre pretty cool actually :)

i had a thread that was yanked because a few other members kept trolling it.

these changes are for the better IMO.
