hello maasters,
I got one of the for stage RODI's (five really) through the group buy orginized about a year ago, and i need replacement parts. the TDS reading is .04 so i figured i should change one of the units, but i dont know wich one eg. carbon RO or what. I know i could probably search the archives to find the answer to this, but what can i say i'm a lazy punk. so if anyone wants to indulge my sloth, info is welcomed.
Thnx

have you flushed your RO membrane? there should be an outlet with a valve on it, f lush a bucket full of water out of it and it should clean up your membrane.

The DI cartridge is color changing, can you tell if it is exhausted?

Tim Marvin was the inital contact on that...

.04 ppm is still a really low TDS. I would go ahead and identify a place to buy replacements but wait until its highher then .04 ppm. Normally you would need to change the particle filter, the carbon filter and the DI cartridge. The one thing you need to watch fo is if the carbon filter is exhausted, chlorinated water will leak through and attack the RO membrane. You may have a primary and secondary carbon filter on your unit.

if it has been a year, you need to replace all filters, except the membrane, as Gary pointed out, .04 is low, but if you'll goal is 000, replacing the filter will take care of that

you're supposed to replace the filters every 6 months, the RO filter every year and the membrane every 2 years, to mantain optimal water output.

it also depends on how often you run water thru them, for the replacement

we all spend so much money in our tanks, and we try to save money in the element our fish resides in...water... the better the water the less problems we will have.

I think Polkster took over the water filter business from Tim/Greg.
