I bought a new skimmer for my tank, I had a feeling that my bak pak dual pak was not doing a good job so I ordered a new one. My new skimmer makes bubbles like mad and in 3 days has filled up with some nasty stuff while my bak pak would have taken 3 to 4 weeks to make the same amount of skimmate.

I bought the new skimmer due to hair algae that seems to be steadily over taking my tank. I also switched out my red macro algea in my fuge with some chaeto.

I do weekly water changes, have an awesome skimmer (now), fuge has 24/7 lights, and now chaeto. I have a feeling that this hair algae will be looking for a new home soon :lol

I thought about getting that one too or the regular 1000 but I have seem euro-reefs blems for about the same price for 5-24.

I recently bought a Euroreef ES-5 and it works friggin awesome. I run mine relatively wet and fill the cup with a light brown liquid every day. The bubbles from the euroreef skimmer are so tiny and fine it looks like the chamber is filled with milk. If yuo go with a euro-reef you will not be dissapointed I promise.

Ok, here is the picture of the bubble chamber area, I couldn't get all the skimmer in there otherwise it would have been too large a file.

...and here is the collection area, this is actually quite a large collection tray (compared to my bak pak skimmer). This is 3 days worth of skimmate. If you want a picture of the entire skimmer send me an email at Thunderkat65@yahoo.com

I wasn't even going to hook it up to this tank, was going to put it on my new tank but the new tank is still just sitting on the floor waiting for me to get a few days off so I can go get parts, assemble, and leak test. I assembled the skimmer and just had it lying next to the new tank collecting dust :lol

I would love to stand back more but my back was against a wall already, so there goes that idea. I don't have a photo editor that makes files smaller so there goes that idea too. :(

Did the best with what I had so there you go.

If you mean just resizing pics, you can use paint.

Yes, I did use the paint editor to make the large picture into two smaller ones. You guys sound pretty knowledgeable on this, just pm me with an email address and I can email you the original pic for editing.

I did find a huge problem with my new skimmer. The other day it got really cold outside and I didn't have the heat on in my apartment. Well, the new skimmer makes so many bubbles that the amount of cold going into my tank overwhelmed my tank's heater and the temperature dropped 10 full degrees. I turned my heat on to 70 degrees in the apartment and the tank temperature went back up to 81 degrees. So far I don't see any damage but it sure was scary seeing the temperature drop like that.

I've never heard of anything like that happening..... ;)

Time to get a new Ebo-Jager heater (they won't let you down)
