i am wondering if anyone knows of some type of electrical outlet or some type of device that will run all my lights. what i would like is a timered device that will allow me to turn one on one set of vhos then the second set an hour later then the halides later. and all be able to be set on individual timers. all i know of right now is those 8$ timers from homedepot on a power strip. if anyone knows of something different please let me know and where to possibley get it.

thanks

carl

Look at this:
ReefKeeper
http://www.digitalaquatics.com/

8 outlets, each one programmed individually. If 8 is not enough, there is an extension/relay that makes 1 outlet into 2.

I have to agree, I have not had any problems with a powerstrip with timers on it (just don't overload it). I use the digital ones from HD with the grounded plug. A little pricey but like a famous infomercial states "Set it and forget it!"

Those digital timers also have a power button in case you want to kill the lights for taking photos or for other fun stuff in the bed room :) (They will turn on again whenever the next scheduled 'on' is. Or you can just hit it again to turn it back on)

jroescher,
That's a pretty nice setup. Have you tried this product out yourself.
The only problem I see with it though is everything I'd want to control would be on one circuit (lights, chiller, etc.) and I have them on two at the moment.

There systems run between $1000 to 1500
You can save money because this could replace your new panel you wanted to add?

I use the reefkeeper and they work great. Mine controls 2 400w halides, sump pump, skimmer pump, two streams, and a 500w heater. Every channel is programmable for whatever you want to do.

I didn't know about the expansion sockets. Looks like they will let me use a separate circuit and put the rest of my lights on the unit. The base unit can only handle 15 amps so that's why the rest of my lights are on differents timers/circuits.

WTF! I just realized I said "only 15 amps". The electric company loves me!

Same as Richard said. I have 2 250 MH, pumps, heater, etc.. on mine. I mounted the controller in my canopy so that it's visible from the front and routed some extension cords through the wall into the sump below for the pumps and auto top off.

The expansion sockets will let you power items from separate circuits from the controller.

Customer service from them has been excellent.
