Well I got a couple of large pieces of rock from LFS and when I put it in the tank a little purple/orange reef lobster crawled out. I caught him and threw him in the fuge but its pretty cool looking and wonder if it would be ok in the main tank? I figure he will eat coral or anything else he can find but maybe someone knows about them and can help me out with an answer?

..They become a bit predatory when they grow bigger..Id leave it in the fuge since you wont be able to catch him later..They are very cool though.

I love them, and one happened to get into our 150g :innocent , Brian wasn't too happy about it but we've never seen any negative results.

Im sure it was a little lobster guy and glad it wasnt a mantis as I grabbed it as soon as it came out of the rock and didnt look what it was until I had my hand out of the water. Identical to this one here:

I have had one for almost 4 years now. H e was in my 37 gallon for about a year before he started to come out of his hiding hole. For the next two years he was an awesome aquarium addition. Then one day Mr. Wrasse had a big chunk missing in his back. I could not believe it but it healed. Then a few weeks later another big chunk was taken, This time I could see bone. What was happening is that the wrasse sleeps in the rock at night and the lobster is out feeding at night. The wrasse healded again but the lobster has lived in my refugium since then.
