My controller apparently malfunctioned last night and showed the controller in heat mode but the chiller side was still getting power also. My chiller is much more powerful than the heater and my tank was sitting around 58 to 60 this morning. I unplugged the chiller for now and the temp is coming up slowly.

Is there anything else I can do at the moment that anyone is aware of? Would adding a second heater to get the temp up a little quicker be advisable? Fish are slow moving but still kicking, corals are closed up but we'll see how they come through. Not too many yet since the tank is still in the beginning stages.

WOW, that's chilly! I would let it come up slowly. If it isn't up above 75 by tonight maybe add another heater. Getting the house temp up a little might help too! A very gradual water change could also help.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out, first time I think I have heard anyone getting a tank down to this level.

Good Luck - hope everything does ok!

Well I noticed it about four hours ago, just now got a chance to post with everything going on. At the moment it's back up to 66 and the fish seem to have more movement to them, corals undecided at this point. I'll post how everything turns out for everyone to see what happens when chillers go wild.

Medussa Dual.

Looks like everything survived except not sure about a large female maroon clown, can't seem to find her but she's also a great hider. Softies all started to extend polyps again, the three SPS frags I have at this point all seem to be extending their polyps a little so still to be determined completely.

Temp appears to have bottomed out around 56 before noticing this morning after getting a better and accurate reading, just for info if anybody ever has this happen.

Somewhat good new.
Looks like the only casualty to the whole dibacle was a large female maroon clown. :(

Hopefully this thread will help out if anybody unfortunately has the same thing happen. I brought my temp back up in about a 10 hour period if anyone is curious and if this helps.

Fish and corals that made it.

Pair of percs
Humma trigger
green chromis
Hippo Tang
Yellow Tang

Pink birdsnest frag
Green milipora frag
another SPS not sure of name frag
RBT Anemone
GSP
Frilly mushrooms
Flower pot
Green Clove Polyps

That's great that most everything lived. It might not be pratical, but an alarm system or a backup temperature system is always a plus.
