I need to move our R/O unit out to the garage cause it keeps getting in the way where it is now, in the laundry room. Trouble is, I have no idea how I'm going to install it out there. The plan is to use the water-softener hookup, since we don't have a softener. But I don't know how to plumb this...can anyone help? Here's the fitting in the garage:

You can easily use one of these types of feed valves.

The doohikey in the bottom pic I believe is just your drain valve. Do you mean that it sits below the water pipe around the floor, if so that is what it is. You can run your waste water line into that. Very easy installation if you don't mind that type of feed valve.

run your drain line into another resivoir to use for plants etc. thats what i did and it works great, why waste all that water, i can barely keep up with it watering our plants, and we have alot.

Yeah, that nasty waste water is much cleaner than your tap water!

Dredging up this old thread...brewercm, I'm looking at that supply valve and wondering something. Does it pierce the supply tube when you tighten it down, and that's how it taps in? I suspect it does but I'm not totally sure from the description.

Thanks,

Chris

You would be better off just turning the water off and cutting the pipe adding another "T" and shut off. That looks like 3/4" copper pipe and the link only goes up to 1/2". I will add a picture how Carl did mine when he removed the water softener.
