This what I have been up to lately. I would like to get some feedback from you guys to see what you think so far. It will be covered with 1/4" birch then stained to match the existing iteams in the house. I will be building a canopy to match I think.

I hope so don't want it colapsing on me any time soon. Here is a pic with the Birch 1/4" ply on. I still need to trim it up and add doors of course then stain it and paint the inside. What type or brand of paint do you all recommend for the inside?

Marine grade gloss paint. I found some at Home Depot. Was a little bit pricey but works great if you spill any water. I did white because thats the paint I also used on the inside of my canopy. I would probably caulk the seams on the inside floor of the stand too, just in case a water spill....

I thought about doing that before I built the stand, but I forgot thanks for reminding me about caulking the seems. I have some already so that wont a problem.

Outside will be stained with an antique walnut inside painted with marine grade paint. Thanks for the comments. I hope that I can get then stand trimed up with molding and stained next week and finish the canopy as well.

Here is an update pic with stain mixed at sherwin williams. It is a walnut but cannot remember what color and I am too lazy to go out in the garage and look.lol I still need to put on the two coats of clear varnish on it and paint the inside of the stand. I have a canopy 3/4's built but not sure if I am going to use or go with a Tek 4X39w Fixture.

you are probably the only person that will ever notice them.

probably so. Oh and the wife would as her eyes are like a hawk. She notices everything. WHen I was building it she said that some of the trim was off. Sure enough it was off about 1/8" or less when I measured. :) But she approved afterall and she was then one I had to impress to get it in the house.

Most married men do know how that goes.:D I am just glad that it turn out the way it did. I am happy with it and she is too(so she says). Now I can start working on the sump, skimmer, drilling internal surface skimmer. Oh man I have a lot to do yet. Hopefully by March I will have it up and cycling

The floor is not level as you can see here in this side view
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/dwdenny/IMG_0051.jpg

But looking at it from the front it is fine

I will have to shim up the back to get it right. Should I use just wood shims or is there some thing else I should use?
