Well, they just raised the prices again, seems the new "management" is in it only for the money like so many before them. I was in an order with them and was told the new prices were on anything that hadn't gone out yet......I stopped the order.....not the way to do business!!!!

I didn't know they were under new management. Did they get bought out? I thought they were a "mom and pop" establishment, or at least that was what I understood when they first started. They website is all fancy pants now, I like it, but I have never ordered from them.

Make sure to notify the credit card company that you used just incase they try to charge you. Is it legal to change the price on an item after the sale?

They wernt bought out they just added a partner. Its being run out of Bryan/College Station now.

Sunvsat, if you canceld the order she will not charge you. The person runing it now is a good freind and I have never know her to wrong anyone intentionaly. She can be trusted.

Its Frags & Crabs and Maroon Lagoon all in one. She also has the forum for the area www.pernelf.com

Monica, it has been an issue with them for a couple of months and this latest madness was the last straw as they say...Trusted??? I think not, got dead items and were never replaced or given credit as they told me at the beginning of the order. When I tried another order with two others this last time, price change....Trust???????????

I had been reading past reviews of frags and crabs and placed an order from them based on those. This order was placed on September 10th. I received the order on time. I order some zoos, (2) shrooms, and a chalice (echino). The chalice was described as maroon was sort of that color, it was only $19.99. It has since turned a great green with maroon edge in my tank. The zoos at first didn't look like the picture, but have since turned into some really nice colors and are some of my nicest. The two shrooms were supposed to be the same color. Neither were and weren't the color I orderd. They were okay and have produced at least 2 others since putting in my tank.

Kind of a mixed order. The packing was absurd. They were in zip-loc bags and when I first saw it, I was VERY upset. However, there was minimal leakage. Shipping was cheap, overall the critters colored up nicely. The zip-loc bags were however cause enough for me to probably not order from them again.

I agree with Lee. I thought their packing was absurd. I received a very wet box & found that they had shipped all the items in zip-loc bags. Rocks, water & Zip-loc bags do not make for a good shipping arrangement. A bag containing the snails had no water in it by the time I got it & after releasing the snails I saw no movement. Well, the hermit crabs all got new homes. I emailed them that I didn't think it was a good idea for them to ship in zip-loc bags & was told that "they had run out of their regular shipping bags". I guess they run out of their shipping bags regularly since I made the order back in June. They told me they would give me credit for the snails which I have never tried to collect on since I have not ordered from them again. - Jana

I am truly sorry about all the bad experiance. She really is a nice person. And I cant see her doing it intentionaly.I dont know anything about her daily buisness, I stay out of that.

I know the merger has had her overwelmed, and she is trying to catch up.

Ok guys, this has just been brought to my attention sorry for the delay, I really don't follow much on this board. My name is Leslea Hoffpauir and I do post infrequently on here at Pernelf. As Monica said, Frags N Crabs was not "bought out" but rather turned over to me probably mid-Sept. The prices that were slightly raised on the site this past week was b/c I was tweaking the storefront and learning the program. If you would have noticed, the slight increase was just showing the tax on each individual item, which I thought would have been helpful to consumers but has been since taken off.

The packing problem sounds like it was when Jim had it in Houston. I pack all of my items in fish bags, double bagged with oxygen. Shipments are sent out in styrofoam fish boxes with either heat packs or cool packs depending on the temps at any given time. (Shipments going out this week will include heat packs)

Sunvsat - if you would tell me the name you may have placed an order with, I will double check to make sure I did not charge the credit card but have not had anything from the Austin area go out this week.

Jana - if would tell me around when you ordered and how many snails did not make it, I can get with you regards to replacement snails shipped out this week if I have them in stock.

Things have been hectic around here to tell you the truth. Jim was generous enough to turn over a fledgling business to me and I have been trying to fill orders as fast as I can, restock when I can and answer emails as soon as I can. I will be honest and some things do fall through the cracks but I try to not let that happen. If they are issues with the order, either new items are sent out free shipping or store credit is given. If someone orders something and I do not have it at the time, I make sure to contact the person and let them know I do not have it and when an expected arrival is. I also ask if they would like me to hold the order up for the unavailable item, replace the item with something else or give them a refund. I am doing this full time while Jim was doing it part time. I hope I have cleared up some things for people and I will try to get on this board more often to respond to questions. You may want to check the board in the next week as I am getting 4 large shipments of livestock then will be doing a large sale in attempts to clear out what I have on hand in order to make more room for items.

Leslea,

Thanks for the response. The fact you posted says that you do care and it makes me likely to order again. However, any shipment again in zip loc bags would certainly put an end to my business. Again, I didn't lose anything because of it, just shows a lack of concern for the critters and the customer. Glad to hear it wasn't you.

Will be watching to see what you place on the website.

Well I can tell you I'll never ship in ziploc bags for any reason. It can cause to much leakage like you saw. I'll hold an order up to wait for new fish bags before I send in ziploc.
