Ok got all the tubing right. Now I know good water is supposed to come out of the green tube, but why is water constantly coming out of the clear tubing coming from the top tube (which I believe if the DI membrane). I thought that was to backwash the system. Can someone please help me out.

ok I conducted some field tests and the water coming out of the green tube is reading 001 on TDS. The water coming out of the tube from the top with the on/off switch is reading 210 or so. Yes, I have tried turing the blue knob at the top both directions and that shoots the water out of that tube faster or slower but does not stop it.

while you are running your ro you have 2 flows of water. one is the "good" water that you want for your tank. the other is the "dirty" water you want to get rid of. the one with the lowest tds is the one you keep the other just stub it down the drain..

Also when you said you turned that valve and the water started coming out faster from the waste line, that would be your flush valve. Every couple of weeks or so open that valve to where the water is running faster to flush out the membrane. What it's actually doing is running water over the membrane at a fast rate to loosen up some of the larger particles and anything that can be removed in that manner, it helps the membrane last a little longer.

BTW just for your own reference, that valve is bypassing what is called the restrictor valve.

You can also use the waste water to water plants and your yard instead of flushing it down the drain. Remember, it has gone through a sediment filter and carbon filter and is not that "dirty" compared to tap water.

True about what Polkster says. The "Waste" water is much cleaner than your tap water, and even cleaner than most standard house feeding water filters output is. Do with that water what you want, but it's pretty good water.

I"m thinking of bottling it and selling it as NRR Sparkling Water. The NRR of course stands for not reef ready.

I ran about 30 ft. of tubing into my garden and use the flush water to my Hydrangea. Its a wetland plant and doesn't do well in this climate. Mine is about 4 ft. high and covered in 12 inch blooms.

What color are the blooms? Blue or pink? The color is determined by the Ph, The higher the Ph, the bluer, the lower the Ph, the pinker.
