is there anything out there that you can add to change the color of your live rock? or will it always be a purple kind of color?

you could always dry it ou and leave it in the sun for a few days, then youd have a tottaly awesome shade of bright white, then when you stick it back in the tank it'll turn a dark brown color which might be followed by horrid shades of puke green and rust red due to the cyano bacteria

Mike, a purple and pink kind of color are good. That is known as coraline algae and it grows when there are good levels of calcium and alkalinity. I have heard of people dosing a little strontium to get the green calcerous algaes but I havent tried it myself. Also, it is not good to dose anything that you dont test for. If you scratch the rock a little it will spread easier and grow on the walls of your tank.
