I have some zoo's on a rock "island" that are just growing WAY too much and they are completely taking over. I started with one polyp and now there are probably around a thousand of them.

So any expert fraggers have any good techniques for removing zoo's? The catch is I can't take the rocks out of the tank and it's a 215 so it's kinda hard to reach them. Any suggestions?

you could always try the cut, pinch, and peel routine i use, then again im running 10 gallon nano so you might need scuba gear

cut, pinch, and peel routine

Can you explain that routine more?

ok well its rather simple what i do is find a polyp, with a sharp razor you make a nice little slice at its base then what i do is either pinch and peel the polyp or mat with tweesers or pry it off at its base with a plastic tooth pic, dont worry about tissue damage because there is always tissue damage when you do it this way, good thing is that zoo's are pretty tought and can deal with it

I'll give it a try. If it works once then only 499 more left to do to get them under control :cry .

I think you might misunderstand. Underneath where the zoos are attached to the rock they are in a big mat, similiar to clove polyps if you have ever fragged those. When you slice 1 and start to peel it up, if your careful you can peel up a big mat at a time....

Or once you have the coenenchyma partially lifted, you can blow air underneath with a powerhead and it will also lift off... I did it by mistake...Gary P is really good with hemostats, maybe he knows a way... :) I am embarassed to even dare make a suggestion to an expert like yourself.

LOL!!! I am not an expert! The only thing I know for sure is I don't know it all .

I hate fragging things so most of you probably have WAY more experience than me. Like these zoos for example, all of the ones in my tank are from loose polyps I steal when we get orders in. Never fragged one deliberately...EVER.

I have never fragged zoos (I just let 'em go nuts) but from the people I have talked to it is best to frag them while they are underwater to minimize the chance of getting their inner juices on you.
