I'd like to purchase a few cheap timers to turn lights on and off to follow a consistent schedule. Anyone have any suggestions, ideas, comments?

I prefer the digital ones because the teeth on the mechanical one's wear out. In addition, you don't have to reset them after a power outage. They have a battery backup. They are about $11 at Home Depot. Just make sure they are rated for the amperage you are going to be running through them. You might also want to check at Radio Shack.

I use the electronic timers as well. They can be programed for different settings everyday. The ones I got were $20 at Home Depot. They are more expensive because they have the 3 hole grounded plug.

I've used the cheap 'analog' timers and they do not perform well. They wear out quicker and use to 'stick' all the time.

The coralife one is pretty good and you can program all sorts of on/offs multiple times for each different plug.

You can also get this in a digital one if you want.....they have them both on Ebay pretty cheap.

I use the cheap analog timers. I have not had any problems during 10 months of usage. GaryP is definately right about the ease of a battery backup, I think this has been the only downfall for me. Once you unplug the timer, expect to reset the timer. If you were to buy one of these, just make sure to get the grounded one! (Don't ask how I know!) :)

If you get the Coralife power strip just make sure you get the digital one. The analog one sucks. Been there, tried it, won't buy one again.

I have two digital timers from Home Depot. Never been opened. With battery backup I will sell you for $15.00 each.

I've used both and prefer the digital timers. I can set up to twenty on/off settings on mine and if the power goes out they are right back on line. BTW, I've had several of the analog ones and some work fine others tend to wear out but all have to be reset after power outages.

Yeah I was at Target picking up a few things the other day. Looking for Halloween candy and ended up lost in Christmas Village. I could have sworn I would have seen a Easter Bunny if I kept on walking.

I've never seen a Coralife digital timer, are you sure they make them? We quit selling the coralife analog ones. ALOT of returns and all of mine didn't last too long. It would be a great product if they would up the quality a bit.

These look interesting...
