weird red crawly thing in rock

in one of the holes of my LR, i can see these red feeler-type appendages going in and out of the rock. anyone have any idea what this is?

Sounds like it could be a barnacle but without a picture or seeing it in person, that is only a wild guess.

what im describing looks like the feelers off a scarlet hermit. thats all ive seen though, is the feeler-like appendage
