Is that the strictly 100mm macro lens?
Now I've gotta get one for mine.

Congrats on the new lens! Nice first pics!
I have the Nikon equivalent the 105 Micro and I know you will have fun with this lens.
Are these shots handheld? If so, I will suggest getting a good or very good tripod and you will enjoy the results.
Also take a look at the Canon 500d and Canon 250d Close-Up lenses for even more fun.

Cool!
The money trail is as follows:
New Camera->New Lens->New Flash->New Tripod->New Computer->Bigger Hard Drive->Photo Software->More Tanks->More Corals->More Fish->Repeat the process
It never ends. But it is FUN!

Lens: Canon 100MM Macro
What part number was that lens?
here is the one:click here (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=194451&is=USA& addedTroughType=categoryNavigation)
I'm kinda learning up on lens by going to various websites. When I look on the description of this particular one, its says it is a 58mm filter size. Is this also the thread count to mount the lens to a camera?
I have a 55mm thread count on mine and I know there are adapters to change it larger or smaller. If any photography buffs could answer this, that would help me in my search. :huh

I had seen (I believe) a Vivitar 100mm macro lens for the Rebel for $100 somewhere. I'm sure the quality is probably not the same as the Canon but maybe worth a try. I've thought about it myself.

the filter size is the size of filter you need to buy that would screw on the end of the lens (ie circular, polarizing, linear, uv, etc . . . )
different camera manufacturers use different mounts that affix the lenses onto the camera. i think all nikons use the same mounting system (dont quote me on that though) and canon has about 3 different mounting systems. the newer canons us an EF mounting system. to my knowledge no lens is able to swap from one mounting system to another and it would likely cost more than the lens is worth to convert one over.
hope this helps

What about UV or polarizer or such lens filters? Does anyone use those for their tank photographs?

that would limit the light that comes in so i probly wouldnt do it
i would just pick up a cheap rubber lens hood, then you can press it against the glass vs the lens and it should cut down on glare significantly. much cheaper option IMO.
lots of people do keep filters on their lenses for protection though.
also, the higher the iso the better
my $.02 take it with a grain of salt :)
