I am thinking about upgrading the lights in my 55 gallon aquarium. Right now I have a hood with two 10k and two actinics in it. I usually turn it on at 5 am and turn it off at 8 pm (for the corals). I am thinking about getting metal halides (http://www.coralreefsupply.com/detail.php?table=lighting_hqi_cu&item=CU_HQI_OUTER _48) but I don't know how safe they are. Would leaving them on as long as my current set up cause problems with halides? I am worried about a fire risk with halides. Am I worried about nothing or is this a valid concern?

In have (4) 400 watt pendents, with no problems.
If you not that handy, just by the plug and play pendents that way all the wiring is already dont and you dont have to mess with it.
Otherwise your doing the wiring yourself and run more risk.......IMO
I have the brand CORALVUE and have had good luck with them.
