Hey guys, I just traded for a brand new tunze with my friend. It is the 6060 model. My question is do you guys think its too strong for my 29 gallon? Before you start making faces and asking yourself "What is this guy thinking?", let me explain. I took my tank down because it was leaking but now I fixed it. It will be a barebottom tank with starboard in the bottom. I will have plenty of liverock and its going to have nothing but SPS. I am going to have a small sump underneath just so it can house my return pump and skimmer, maybe a little rubble for the extra filtration but I am still debating that. To be succesful I will need plenty of flow to eliminate any dead spots and to keep detritus in suspension so it can finally settle in the sump. My question once again is: Is this too much flow?

I think it will work fairly well. I am a Tunze supporter :)

Great, as long as water stays inside my tank and it doesnt rip the flesh out of my acros I am happy

Yeah, it all depends on the placement of the pump and the rock. I have mine placed in the back aiming towards the center of the tank. Breaks up the flow throughout the tank.

Yeah, that is what I wanted to do. I am placing it as low as it can go. I cant wait to get my tank up and running. I remembered asking once about this in some other thread and some people thought I was crazy. I will probably get that once more maastards read it. LOL

You can always hit up rvtiko in the Reefcentral Tunze forum for more info about the setup. He responds fairly soon (usually weekdays). Also I read up on a lot of old posts in the section before I bought my 6000.

I had one in my old 75 and it would blow sand up on the other side of the tank. I know you are going BB but the 6060 would be a washing machine in that little tank.

I have one of those in my 55 gallon with plenum set up (makes the sand really high) and it initally caused sand storms really bad so I just kept rearranging my live rock until I found a set up that reduced flow in the tank, you don't want too much live rock in the way initally or it just deflects the flow, have little edges going up into the flow at first. You can also put in some fiberglass mesh stuff on the suctions to reduce the flow a little.

I had forgotten about this thread. Hey Kat, can you explain this a little further. Where can I find that material.
