So about 2 months ago or so, my friend got a pair of yellow sea cucumbers. After about a week of being in the tank, one had been in the same place it landed upon introduction to the tank, and the other was in the same place it'd been since moving on the second day. It was decided to put them on the liverock, to encourage them to move or something, but for the most part, they just stay where they were put, moving very little, and not often. Is this common of them? There is nothing in the tank to bother them, all water parameters stay fine, and they never look aggitated, they just look more like corals/sessile inverts. Any ideas?

the yellow cucumbers are filter feeders, so they find a spot they like and stay put for the most part. if they've been in the tank for a couple of months, and still extend their feeder tentacles, and don't show any signs of tissue degredation, i wouldn't worry about them.

Yeah.. They are filter feeders, and like blue said, they find a good spot to be and stay put, usually under moderate to high current to extend their feeding "polyps" (not really polyps, dont know the name). If you are feeding phyto already or any other invert food, watch him at night with a flash light, odds are he's gonna be eating..they are hardy.

they may be hardy, but not too smart! mine crawled straight into a colony of yellow polyps and got stung pretty good. it's flesh deteriorated where the stings were untill i coud see his insides. at that point i had to pull him and quickly acclimate him to the back yard for fear of him releasing toxins in my reef.
