Found this while looking on ebay.

Anyone ever heard or try this out before?? I'm looking at doing a moonlight setup on my reef tank and thought this setup looked cool. I was/am planning on just buying my own resistor's and LED's but saw this setup. It has a programed control box that will mimic the moon cycle through a 29 day period.
They also have a website too....

Here is an animation that is greatly sped up. Each change represents one lunar day:

Thats not realistic either as the moon and sun are not both off at the same time anyway. 12.00 get a clapper and clap it on at bed time and off in the am :D

I'm trying to figure out what your saying. Try re-wording it.

The sun comes up before the moon goes down and vise versa. In that picture it goes totally dark so if you are trying to mimick then ...

I got these: http://www.fishbowl-innovations.com
I liked these better because I could mount them to my canopy and angle them.

It is when you can get the parts and DIY for half if not less. Not looking to **** you off just trying to help you save.
After all you asked for opinions.

I never asked for options. I simply asked who has heard or tried out this before. I'm going to build my own and that has been my plan.

But when there is a "New" moon, the light from the moon is not visible. So, there would be at least one night of complete darkness, and gradual shades before and after...

I have this set.. (Christmas Present :shades ) I just run it all the time. Never notice there on till the atinics go off. Actually pretty cool that it follows the lunar cycle. Starts off on day1 at 100% brightness then on day 29 it's off simulating the new moon next day start over again. I actually sync it with the calander and has been right on now for almost a year.

It is an interestig device. Although, I wonder why you would worry so much about simulating a proper moon cycle (assuming the light penetration is even remotely proper), when we don't even come close to really simulating the sun cycle to any degree of accuracy.
I think the moon lights look really cool, but I think the whole lunar cycle thing is hogwash, aside from the "neato" factor.
