Nice, but I think your Fuji pics were better - guess you need to start spending some more money on lenses ;)

Brian, the color is very good. Is that "Auto Everything" shots right off the camera, or shopped?

Oh, and I assume your pumps were off for these shots?

... the only thing I did in photoshop was auto levels to make the pictures a little brighter

looks like the popular camera. I too need to buy some lenses for it. I have done tons of research on which ones to get. Maybe we can get a better deal on lenses if we order together. Right now I am looking at 3 canon lenses but that may change. Which ones are you looking at getting? Send me a PM to discuss.

Congrats on your new camera! You will love it! Nice first shots.

Buying lenses can become very very addictive at least it is for me. I suggest saving up and buying the "Pro" quality lenses, you will be glad you did - In the Canon world, I believe the "L" lenses are the ones you want to get. And then after a few good lenses. Perhaps a good tripod? And then a couple of external flashes. And then a new hard drive to store all those pics. And then a new color printer. Oh yeah and then a device to calibrate the monitor and then a device to calibrate your printer. Oh yeah and then Photoshop CS2 to process all those pics.

nice pics! a little soft but great composition!

grab a 50 f1.8 as one of your first lenses. works GREAT in low light and is an excellent lens for $60ish

the 28-135 is the best carry around lens IMO and can be had at a reasonable price

the 70-200 was my favorite for distances

congrats on the new camera!!!

I don't have the XT, just the Digital Rebel. GREAT camera! I used it for digitial astronomy, that is how good it is! and, heck Brian, you are just a good photographer!

Welcom to the Digital Rebel family. You won't be sorry, I'm like John and have the earlier version that I bought from purejoy. I love the fact that I don't miss pictures any longer (no shutter lag which was the main reason at the time) of my kids. Took it to Disneyworld with me over the summer and a great investment, now time to start stocking up on them expensive lenses.

before you go out and spend a fortune on high end lenses do some research. expensive does not always mean better.

one example is the sigma 70-200 APO lens. I have seen some amazing shots out of this one and it retails for <$200. make sure its the APO version though.

check out the canon and lens forums at dpreview.com there are literally tons of information there and always feel free to ask me and if i dont know it i will do my best to find you an answer.

also, if you check slickdeals on a semi-regular basis every once in a blue moon they post dell coupons that are valid for canon lenses.

good luck with your camera and post plenty of pics :)
