Are you ordering some?

::pete::

I wanted to get one, but figured I would see if anyone else is interested before ordering.

I wonder if it works without a ppressure switch.

Richard
Mon, 26th Sep 2005, 07:43 PM
I'll take 3 if you order.

Jim
Its a float valve that simply blocks (turns off) the RO/DI outlet.

Richard
Ok .. ;)

Pete, I could use one if you are going to order.

Does one float valve shut off the unit completely (I'm wondering what about the waste water?) or would you need two separate float valves? Not sure completely how many I would need.

It would shut off one line and in my case the output not the waste.

I'm down for one if this is happening soon, and if it fits my RO + DI Coralife unit (I know nothing about plumbing/fittings!)

::pete::
Mon, 26th Sep 2005, 11:12 PM
It threads to a container like any other fitting and then a quick connect for 1/4" tubing.

I would like to order this week as Im getting all my parts together for the reactors.

I use one similar in my sump (Kent version) that's hooked up to my RO unit and it keeps my water constant level in my sump. I could use one for my trash can I use for water changes so I don't forget to turn it off when filling it up or have to watch it constantly. Let me know payment etc. when you are ready.

Well there seems to be interest so I will move this to group orders.

Pete, you should order from Buckeye Field Supply.I will attach a pic.
He is a MAAST sponsor!

These guys are super good to geal with and I bet if you end up ordering that many, he will match the $12.99 price.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend you get a adjustable flow restrictor and a flushing system for your ro/di unit.
It makes all the sense in the world when you talk to him.
I ordered the adjustable restrictor from him, and made the bypass, but you can order the whole system from him real cheap too.

I have bought both and can seem to think how I was doing it without them.
It really makes flushing your system and adjusting the ro/di performance a breeze.

I will attach pics.....
Let me know if anyone has questions.

I don't know which would be better in the long run, one is $12.99 including shipping, and the other lists @ $14.90 plus shipping. Unless buckeye not only drops their price and includes shipping, I say go with the one that costs less. If Buckeye really wants our business, then they need to do what is neccessary to get it. I'm in for one too Pete.

::pete::
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 01:34 PM
Unless I missed it ... Buckeye is not on the sponsor list?

I emailed the vendor and Im waiting to see if they will do a group price.

Richard
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 01:37 PM
Not that there is anything wrong with those float valves but they are not exactly what I'm looking for.

Pete - I'm down for 3 if you order the ones from the original post but otherwise I'll pass. Let me know cause I will just order some for myself if you want to get a different kind.

::pete::
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 01:39 PM
No ... Im interested in the first ones just waiting to see if he will do a bulk price and how many as there are a few that want it.

Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 01:58 PM
It will shut off the output into the tank/sump and cause a pressure build up which should cause the auto shutoff valve(if equiped) to close the supply to the unit so you are not wasting the waste water.

I'll take one... I wonder if there would be a way to use it to cut off the overflow too

::pete::
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 05:17 PM
What overflow?

jaded
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 05:41 PM
I mean the waste water... sorry I had a customer walk in and I didn't preview my response, which always leads to a stupid post from me :)

Basically what I'm concerned about is that autoshut off valves stink at best. If I could figure out a way to use the float valve to also cut off the flow from the waste water I would

::pete::
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 05:46 PM
This might be a stupid answer, but a plumber told me that if water isnt "going through" the unit then it doesnt produce waste. I have mine hooked up under the sink and a line that I pull out to fill barrles and on the end of that line is a simple on off thumb twist. I can hear the water draining when I make water, but there is no draining when its in the off position.

I suggest you do an experimemt to see for sure if youre gonna need a solenoid valve or not. Pull the waste line from the drain, plug the product water line with your finger and see if the waste water still flows, if it does, youre going to need to intstall a solenoid valve to cut off the source water. I did this and the waste water kept flowing for sure. Check out this link www.aquaticreefsystems.com/RO_Diagrams.htm if youre unsure how your RO works, youll notice that post membrane, the product water has two paths to travel, one being the aquarium, the other being the waste line. Just wanted to bring this to your attention, we dont waste too much H2O.

::pete::
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 06:59 PM
Mine is plugged right now and there is no waste coming out ... checked last night after our PM.

JimD
Wed, 28th Sep 2005, 07:04 PM
Plug the waste line an see if you get incresed flow throught the product line. Does your system use a storage tank?
I basicly just put this out there for people who arent sure.

can I get you the money any other way quick enough? If not I can use paypal, but I'm already to the point now that if it were this club instead of a bunch of dirty kayakers I would be investigated by SAPD :) and we all know thats not good for anyone
