MAAST is needing locations for future meetings.
As it has been done in the past, MAAST tries to hold meetings between San Antonio and Austin, with the occasional meetings near the coast.
Unfortunatly the meetings for the rest of the year, will be in or near San Antonio.
So, if you think that you can handle a bunch of MAASTards, for a Saturday or Sunday meeting, Let us know if you would like to host a meeting.
A small stipend could be given to help defray the cost of snacks and refreshments.

So, let's start the new year off right and have the first meeting of 2006 in Austin! :D

So, if you would like to host a meeting, contact myself or any other club offical.

Thanks,

Roy

Come on Folks!!! I know that we have members in Austin, San Marcos, Seguin and elsewhere!!
I know that we have members way down south, maybe someday we could get a meeting there.
How about this, if someone from down south wants to host a meeting, the rest of us could possibly charter a bus?????
And lets not forget the folks in Corpus!!! I know that we tried this year, but lets try again!!!
MAAST NEEDS meeting locations!!!!!

We don't necessarily need to meet at a members home.
Does your Church have a meeting hall?
Do you belong to a civic organization or home owner association that has a meeting hall?
Then after the meeting, a tank tour at the Host's home?

Does anyone work for a hotel? Or know of someone?
We could look into having our meetings at a local hotel that has meeting rooms. And if we have members driving in from out of town, they might be able to get discounted rates?
Let's see if we can get something like this set up.

OK so no one seems to be stepping up so I'll be your first.
My house is available down here in Corpus. And if all you MAASTards decide to come down I might have access to a meeting room.

Thanks Jose, your place would be pretty convenient to the folks coming down from Austin.

Rob,

I'm still trying to work out something with the folks at UT in Port A. How far are you from Port A?

It's about a 30 minute drive to Port A. Mapquest says 45 minutes to UT from the house. But we all know how accurate mapquest is. I'm sticking with the 30 min

Roy,
I am "Newby" and dont know a whole lot... but.. I am a property manger (Apartments) and would possibly be able to get the clubrooms at no cost for these meetings.... We have properties in ATX, SA, San Marcos. The San Antonio locations are for sure (I manage these).
If you were able to inform me as to what is needed for the meeting and what the topics are i would see about hosting in these areas.
I would be happy to be more involved.

Justin,

We have been looking for something exactly like this for meeting locations. I'll ask our meetings committee chariman (SBReef aka Roy) to contact you.

no more meetings in cramped up LFS's!

other than that, i wish my place was big enough to accomidate a MAAST meeting. i could fit about 15 in my living room/dining area, but thats it.

Well there will be more meetings at any LFS who is a MAAST sponsor and who wants to host them. The meetings at LFS are cramped and hot but we deal with it....the meetings are to support them just like they support us. As MAAST continues to grow it will become more and more challenging to find appropriate locations. Offering your apartment is a nice gesture but it would be even more cramped than an LFS...shoot the one at my house was cramped (3300 sq ft) but it was one of the largest meetings ever.

oh darn, my post didnt go through.

the reason i dont like small places is because since december when the dry weather hit, ive been seriously prone to nose bleeds and it SUCKS! i was at pets r us and my nose started bleeding. its embarassing :|

Aside from the nose bleed causing cramped spaces i think the LFS meeting are a good idea when it comes to support for these establishments. I have not been to one yet but can imagine how it is.

I am thrilled at the possibility that my locations in SA can be a common area for these meets. I have allready received clearance from my people.

To all of you in San Marcos and Austin.... Rest assured i will try to utilize these locations also.

Corpus... sorry I dont have any contacts there....

Meetings at the LFS stores are EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! Can't go there without spending lots of money. And when they do a big order just before the meeting it only gets worse.

How about when you guys meet down here around corpus we do a trip to Port A Jetties if weather permits to catch peppermint shrimp and view stuff in the pools in the rocks. A friend and I went down there and saw all kinds of stuff. Sargasm triggers, snails, erchins, peppermint shrimp, sgt. majors. tons of cool stuff in the rocks. BYO-Flashlight!
