In light of the hurricane boring down on the Texas Gulf coast, anyone know if any of the LFS in Austin carry battery operated air pumps?

Check sporting goods (fishing section). Much cheaper than any LFS unless you just want to support the LFS and they are unlikely to carry them.

So do you use this pump with just an air stone or a bubble wand or what? Also, what did the one you got at Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store look like?

Seems like that would blow too much air and run down quickly...

It will be in the fishing section with the bait buckets. Ask the guy for a battery operated bait bucket airator. Just hook it up to standard air line with a good air stone, air wand, whatever you want to use to keep air in the tank some.

I got two last night. Had to search around for batteries though...finally found some in the camera dept. The air pumps are supposed to run for 33hrs on two D batteries.

I just got back from academy with an air pump that is supposed to run 60 hours on 2 Ds. It was $9.99

Found one at petsmart actually. For 15 bucks, I plug it into my power strip and the minute the power fails, the air pump kicks on. Pretty cool little device. http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444177 9314&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302030044&ASSORT MENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023693&bmUID=1127413137 261

Hey guys - for next time, don't forget one of our sponsors carries NICE battery back ups for your systems! We got one, and it sure will come in super handy if our power ever goes out ;)
