What do you guys use to get those green dots (algae) off of the glass? I have been useing a razor, but there are sections that are too deep for me to reach. I though if I just used my magnet cleaner more often they would not apprear, but that doesn't seem to be the case. What do you big tank MAASTards use? I have a 125.

should have gotten in on the Algae Free HammerHead, Tigershark....etc....cleaners group order we had! LOL

I've always just used the magnet and the scrubbing pad.

if its not an area that's just inaccessable because of your rocks, then I'd use the Kent ProScraper M. Its essentially a stick with a comfy handgrip and a stainless steel blade at the end. They have them in different lengths, and maybe widths as well. Definately worth checking into, if you haven't yet.

Could'a, would'a, should'a..... :lol . I didn't know this was something other reefers had a problem with and I thought that order was for some fancy pants magnet cleaners that I didn't need. Maybe next time... :roll . Any other recommendations.

Drain it, sand it, resurface it, polish it, put back together.... NO JJ!!! :-)

All I can say is the scrapper, long scrubbing pad, or a better magnet.

Glass or Acrylic?

glass. I have one of those heavy duty magnet cleaners, the square one....not that super heavy duty rectangle one that is inseperable. Maybe I can put a scrubbing pad between the glass and the magnet and get it done that way. Or one of those long handling thingys by Kent.

Get one of those thin green algae pads adn put between it (if it will hold)......or you can get it on a stick.....LOL

Thats all I ever used and it worked fine.

If its building up to the point the magnet cant get it then you arent doing it enough ;) The kent scrapers work well just make sure it has the metal blade.

I use the kent scraper 18 inch, it is real usefull, in hard to reach spaces, butt the blade bends real easy. Causeing the blade to not make contact all the way across. End result is when you go to scrap the algae, instead of scrapeing algae the length of the balde, it leaves streaks where it scraped it of the glass. But not where it wasn't touching.. So if you do get one keep in a safe place. Also if you do end up messing the blade up, they make replacement pieces for it too.

it is not bad at all. it's just the small dots that drive me nuts. i am seeing them more frequently. especially during the day when none of the lights are on. thanks for all the input. I'm gonna have to do some shopping.
