I have a 100 gallon tank. It has about 140lbs of live rock. I have a few fish tangs, bleeny, clowns, mandarin etc, along with corals. I have three maxijet 1200 plus the flow from the wet/dry filter. I just purchased Seio 620 powerhead(yes I know lonestar says the rubber cups suck. (why didn't I know this last week before I ordered it) anyway I need some suggestions on where to place it. I am moving the maxijets. Where do I want to place the new Seio powerhead. Do I place it under the overflow box? and where should I place the other ph's? I am not happy with the flow right now. Evertime I feed it seems the food gets pushed to the bottom of the tank almost Immediately. I have one under the overflow, one in the middle, and one at the far end. Should they face towards each other?, Point towards the front? Does anyone have any thougts on placement.
Thanks

I have the 2 nozzles from my return pointing to each "rock island" on my tank (there is one nozzle per island). then i have 2 Aquaclear PH's pointing to the surface, then im going to add a tunze to shoot across the tank..

I have two 820s in my 180. One is in the back left corner pointing toward the front at about a 45 degree angle the other is in the front right corner pointing across the front of the tank. Both of mine are secured using the solid mount not the suction cups. Be sure to place it where it can be easily removed and cleaned. They are great pumps but do require more frequent cleaning than the Maxijets in my experience.

DT the Seio's will provide a lot better and wider flow that your maxijets would ever do!! They are great pumps but the mounts can be, well, a pain in the arse... I would say do a hard mount on yours, forget the suction cups!! In my tank I had one seio on the side of the overflow shooting water across the front of the tank. On the other end I had one pointing the other direction but aimed towards the live rock to help break it up a bit. Whenever I feed with frozen shrimp I would hold the cube in front of the Seio and it would spray the shrimp from one end to the other and back, really with not much hitting the sand. From what I have seen on Reefcentral, in the Tunze forum, they recommend the flow coming from a corner of the tank spraying to the center. It kinda breaks up the flow and creates a random flow. I know the Seio is not as powerfull as a Tunze but you could experiment with that placement. If not I would say opposite end of the overflow, spraying straight across the tank, or slightly aimed at the live rock...but what do I know lol.... Just get another seio for a circular flow ;) Just make sure they are mounted SECURLY~!!!!

I would think setting up the Seio on one side so that it is blowing down the length of the tank would be best. The Maxijets can be directed to perpendicular to this flow so as to create turbulence.
