I just came from HD and they have MH bulbs by Phillips SE in 175, 250 and 400W. The 400W was 35.00. They dont look any different than the ones we use however I dont know what they put out.

That would be a good source for a back-up bulb in case something happens.... ;)

Most commercial bulbs like those are in the 3.3-4k range.

I'd bet they are in the 5K to 6.5K range but it would be nice to know for sure. Were they the ones that have a fairly fat body to them?
Maybe a good fuge bulb or prop tank bulb for growth purposes if they are in the 6.5K area, of course the corals colors would suffer.

The 175 at I think it was 15.00 would make an awsome fuge light.

I used to use one of these to grow caulerpa and it worked really well. The tank was *amazingly* yellow, though.
