My understanding:

These use an earth magnet that is non industrial and will not rust.

From what I've read these magnets are quite a bit stronger than the ones in the magfloats and really clean the glass quick. Especially for the larger thicker tanks where it makes a big difference.

I need one that would handle a BRICK (3/4" glass) - the one I have now just ain't cutting it. Looks like it would be the Tiger Shark for me. I'll see how the interest is...I would order if we can get enough people to make a difference.

these cleaners are awesome. no comapison to a mag float. he wasn't kidding when he said if you stuck them directly together you might not get them back apart! when i first got mine i was just playing with it, holding the magnets several inches apart, and you could feel a STRONG pull, sudenly one of them was yanked from my hand, and the two snapped together from about 6" apart, catching a small fold of skin between them. it pinched the fire out of me! left a blood blister! oh, and if the inside piece comes loose, don't hold the handle up to the glass to pull it back, i've been told that they could break the glass. you have to hold one inside, one outside, against the glass, but about a foot apart, then slowly slide them towards each other.

Sherri, I have the Tiger Shark for my brick but I wish I had the Great White. The Tiger Shark is good but our glass is super thick. Mikeyboy has both the TS and GW, one for each side of his tank and the GW is harder to move on the glass but it cleans everything. I paid 90 for my TS so this is a great deal for everyone!

pilot_bell777
Tue, 23rd Aug 2005, 06:44 PM
The great white doesn't float though so keep that in mind.

Its funny that you said that about pinching you....I looked at them on Ebay and the first thing it said was it could give you a serious pinch! LOL

Let's get this order together!

Is the pricing good for mixed orders, or do we have to have that number for each of them?

captexas
Tue, 23rd Aug 2005, 06:58 PM
Ok, so what is best if I have a regular 240g Oceanic with 1/2in. thick glass? Is the tiger shark ok or would the Great White be best? I don't want to buy the Tiger Shark and then wish I had gone bigger. On the other hand, I don't want to spend an extra $27 if it really isn't necessary or if once I get the Great White on the tank I can't move the silly thing! :(

Total number of units not number of models. So mix and match....

If we have 20 total = 5 parahna, 8 Tiger sharks, 7great whites then we get the 20+ price.

That's what I was thinking. I remember somebody saying something about that a long time ago but I don't remember which cleaner on what size tank it was.

GaryP

I know Mikeyboy has that problem on his brick.

Tue, 23rd Aug 2005, 09:04 PM
I have the Tiger Shark and that thing is unreal. If you have never tried one, there's nothing to compare it to that will make you understand how strong these magnets are. If anyone in North Austin wants to try mine before you buy one, shoot me a PM. I have mine on a 40 gallon tank right now and I literally have to use both hands to move it. I got it for my 130 that I'm setting up, it's 1/2" acrylic.

It does not need to. I thought the same thing so I bought the Tiger Shark. But the GW is so strong that you will not pull it away from the glass and make the inside magnet fall to the bottom of the tank. No need for this one to float. But if you really want it to you can glue something to the back of it to make it float.

Sherri - I believe the kits contain replacement pads for the cleaners. Outside part uses a felt pad and the inside part uses a velcro type pad.

I use rare earth magnets at work and those suckers are STRONG!! Only a half inch in diameter but if two get closer than 12 inches they jump and attact to each other. Very powerful.

let me know what you need,

pilot_bell777
Wed, 24th Aug 2005, 01:52 PM
No...don't need it right now and actually don't want it right now.
When we get enough orders...............I'll start collecting. I was asking if people wanted to use paypal or mail a money order or something.

I would prefer paypal and I can leave it in the account and then place the order and if something happens and the order doesn't go through then all I have to do is click on your name and process a refund and you get all your money back instead of trying to figure out who paid what.

Why I was asking is that paypal charges a fee and I can't cover the paypal fees so if we use paypal we would have to add like 1.5% or something to the total to cover the paypal fees.

I figure on shipping we can just take the one shipping cost and split it per number or orders???
Example: 10 items (cleaners & kits) ordered, shipping $10, then shipping would be $1 per item????
If you got three things then shipping would be $3?

Not acutaul figures and don't know the shipping cost yet; but what do you all think about doing it this way?

Pilot...doesn't matter to me how you want payment...PayPal or Money Order. Hopefully someone else chimes in...AND ORDERS ONE!!! Come on everybody....would love to be able to TOTALLY clean my 3/4" BRICK. This is an awesome price on prob the best mags out there. I know this group order thingy doesn't happen very often...I've been looking to get one for about 4 months now. :P

I'm trying hard to hold off for 1 more person......there has to be SOMEONE that needs one.

On the money, I don't care what ever is easiest for you guys. If money order is sent, I'll deposit it and take the money right back out and set it in a pool and keep track with who paid what, etc....if paypal, then I'm just gona leave the money in paypal until the day we order. In fact....this vendor takes paypal so that might be easiest....just get the pot full using paypal and the send a paypal payment to this vendor.

It's no biggie......what every works for everyone! Just want to make this as easy and painless as possible!
