What is the best/easiest way to attach frags to live rock? I have a maroon clown that thinks she is a reef designer. She always moves frags I put in the tank to where she thinks they look the best. I may not be the best at aquascaping but surely better than a fish. :lol
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What type of corals are you trying to attach since many are attached differently?

Hard corals use super glue gel and use rubberband for soft corals ... polyps can be glued too.

Yeah super glue works great. I use a toothpick and rubber bands for softies. Stick the tooth pick through the base of the softie, andt hen instead of rubber banding the coral you would just rubber band each side of the toothpick. When the time comes to remove the rubber band, remove them and simply remove the tooth pick. It has always worked great for me.

I prefer using the epoxy stick for my SPS frags and just letting them overgrow onto the rock.

I have a ricordea that is attached to a small pebble, so I could just rubberband it to a small rock and then wait a week or two and hope it attached?

You can also use fishing line and needle to tie softies to the rock. Thread the line through the foot of the softie (especially colts and other hard to mount items) and tie it to the rock, simply pull the line out when the coral mounts.

the rubber band/fishing line wont kill the shroom? do I just need to make sure it isn't too tight?

You can also pick up some bridal vail mesh from wal-mart and put it over the shroom on a rock, it will attach and you can take the mesh out

I'm not sure of the actual size of the "pebble" the ric is attached to, but if it is large enough to get a bead of superglue gel onto, put a blob on the pebble, and attach to a larger rock. If the "pebble" is too small to do this, you will need to get the ric to attach to a larger rock on it's own....I generally keep some "frag rubble" rock in the 'fuge, drop the ric ontop of the rock and let it attach on it's own. If you don't have a 'fuge, you can accomplish this by wedging a piece of acrylic or egg crate in the corner of your tank, dropping some rubble in the enclosure, and placing the ric on top. ^_^

BTW - I don't think a rubber band will work very well for ricordia - if it's tight enough to hold the ric down, it will probably kill it...too loose, and your ric will end up floating around the tank somewhere. I've never tried the bridal mesh method, but it's worth a try - I wouldn't strap it down too tightly though. For other softies (like leathers and xenia), the toothpick method that aquadoc suggested works well.

i've done the bridal veil and the fishing line. Both work fairly well on Xenia. I superglue gel everything else.

would krazy glue work the same?

or would it kill everything?

Long as it is a gel type glue it'll be ok for the reef tank.

I'll take stuff like Xenia and just drop it in a slow current area like my fuge and just let it attach to the rubble there by itself. After a week or so I can take it out and trade it.
