Hey all,
I'm heading to Austin next weekend and I'm going to have some time to shop on Saturday and Sunday. What are the recommended LFS to visit in Austin?
Also, if anyone in Austin has some really cool frags of bright zoas or candycane(bright green or any other color other than brown or white) or some stomatella or collonista snails I would be interested in purchasing them.

I think you might want to go by River City Aquatics, the owner Carlos is very knowledgeable and a very nice guy and has a good collection of frags you might like. It is on 183 north. I do have a candycane which is deep red but isn't ready to frag yet, will keep you in mind when it is.

I have a bunch of brightly colored frags, all of which can be purchased from River City Aquatics. Let me know if you are going by there and I'll deliver some to Carlos to hold for you.

So Horizon Pets and River City Aquatics are the only worthwhile stores in Austin? We are also going near San Marcos so if there is a store near there we could visit it too.

Horizon and RiverCity are close to each other on 183 (both on the North side, RiverCity before Horizon, Horizon being on Anderson Mill Rd.). There's also AquaTek (overpriced save for the occassional sale), Austin Aquariums (the head guy there is quite knowledgeable, its on Anderson Ln.). There's also another store up in Round Rock one exit north of the Round Rock Dell campus but I can't recall the name of this store. Pet Connection as well is in a shopping center on 183 (across the street from the entrance to Buttercup Creek).

Look to the left of your screen under "menu", then "useful information"...click on Pet Store Listing - that gives you the names and addys of all the Austin SW fish stores ;)

Thanks Wendy!
I looked under sponsors but couldn't really tell where they were, that is a much more helpful list. My bad :)

IMO, Aquatek is one of the best stores in the state and IMO the best store in central texas.

Aquatek rocks but some things they sell are expensive - 2.99 each for snails versus horizon pet for .75 cents. But they are really good at what they do at Aquatec so I guess you are paying for experience. They definately have a nice setup.

Didn't he ask for frags? Only Aquatek and Rivercity have frags as far as I know. River City usually has a larger selection of frags. Now if your heading down to SA you can hit CB Pets and Finaddicts.

Yeah I'm only looking for frags, $5-10 range, maybe $15-20 if it is super nice and I can't get it in Houston. I can't afford colonies as the reef spending budget is limited. Stomatella or collonista snails would be way cool, but hard to find.
