I wonder if you can use UV film on regular glass to make UV glass for a DIY DE fixture? I've got a way to retro the Illuminar DIY reflector for DE bulbs but need the UV glass covers. Any DIY'ers got any ideas?

Maybe this oughta be in the DIY forum? Mods?

Why not just buy UV shielding glass?

call your local glass company they should have some may even have small pieces. The other option is a lighting supplier should have them for indoor MH fixtures and will cut to size.

I was just trying to do it all DIY. Trying to think s^%t up. I'm working on a DIY generator with battery back-up made from an old mower motor, an alternator and in-line 12v batteries. I can't decide if I want to use a UPS or a power inverter. What you think?

What are you trying to power or the question should be how long do you want it to work for.

Power Inverter would work better.
