I just bought a few different zoos this past weekend and they really haven't opened up much. Do they normally take awhile to open up or could it be do from too much light? I had them kinda high up and then lowered them to the sand bed with not much of a change. I have a 250w 10k generic bulb with 2 t5 54w actinics. My water parameters are all good so I don't think it could be that.... Any ideas?

Did you dip them in lugols or Seachem? Could be paracites/nudibranches? I keep mine fairly high in my tank under 250w 10Ks and PC Actinics - they seem to do fine with this light.

We have some zoas higher than some of the acros in the tank under 400wt XM's. Always seem to be happy. Oddly enough, there are some zoas lower in the tank that close up from time to time.
Might try a dip (if you haven't already) as Steve suggested.

FinAddict definately has it, saw it Saturday. AA usually doesn't carry it, Alex might have some, and I am pretty sure I saw some at Aquatic Warehouse but that was several weeks ago.

I have Zoos from the very top of the tank and the very bottom and they are still doing good even after bumping the lighting up to a 250w MH. I beleive like Xenia zoos like higer phospates in the water (dirty water) so you may want to give it alittle time and they will open since you just set up this tank. ;)

I just had a patch of my zoos turn white & they're gone. First time that's happened. Had them for about 4-5 months. Been looking for SeaChem Reef Dip myself.

so is the seachem reef dip more of a temporary solution? or should i try dipping them like once a week to see if they will 'liven' up?

I have had lots of success with shooting a small powerhead close to them for a couple of days along with the dip

Dont stress out your corals with dips and moving them around to different lighted areas.... Heh. Just let them be for a couple days (sometimes up to two weeks or more) before they fully acclimate and open on their own. You've got plenty of light from the sounds of things so...
