water topoff and water changer

Here is a quick pic of my ro/di tank and mixing tank. The top tank is the ro/di and the bottom is the salt tank. I use a peristaltic pump to topoff my tank, this is going to change soon. This is setup at one end of the house about 50feet away and plumbing for both top off and water change is run thru attic. Hope you like.

Hey, I recoginze those barrels. Great job on the stacking design. Very neat and space saving. I like it. Wish I had thought of that!

nice setup. What is the filter next to the salt bucket for?

Looks cool Henry, like how you mounted the barrels on their side. Also curious about the filter coming off of the bottom barrel. Oh, and are those 12oz. brown bottles there on the right some special salt mix? lol :)

That filter is how I put salt into the mixing tank. I need to replace it with a larger model. And yes those brown bottle make a nice salt mix the fish and corals love.

How do you put the salt in? The filter doesn't seem big enough to hold that much salt, and I don't see where the filter returns to the tank?

Yeah, at least enough for one water change. :)

The filter housing is too small to add all the salt at once, so I have to fill it about three times to get the right amount of salt into the water. I use a mag 5 to circulate the water in the bottom tank and then also to pump the water into the main tank. I'll add another close up pic in a little while.
