i just had a nice exchange with gjuarez that got me thinking. would anybody else out there (in here) like an environmental forum?? i feel that alot of what we are doing as home reef enthusiasts is intrinsically connected with conservation, and i am sure that not everyone involved is aware of that angle. i think that an environmental forum might foster more education in this direction and offer us an opportunity to direct more energy and finance toward conservation. what do you think. would you guys and gals like to give something back to the reefs? i am new to this site and newly returned to the hobby and i am in awe of all that can be accomplished. my last contact with the hobby was connected with scuba diving and trying to bring some of this into my home. then is was, "drop it in the tank and feed it until it dies" though forever hopeful that it might live and thrive. now it seems that we can keep these wonderful animals alive and even do more. we can propogate, strengthen, share, multiply, save. it appears to me that the marine hobby that we are all involved in can be at the same time a conservation effort to protect all that we are so close to losing. how cool would it be if we could channel our group resources into an educational and financial machine that would help save the natural resources that serve our pleasures so indescriminatly?!

It's a nice idea, but... the Board tends to like to keep things less cluttered and I somewhat doubt we'll have many postings if a new forum is created. It may be a bit silly to create a whole forum that gets very little use.

*If*, let's say someone like you (;)) were to start the ball rolling and gradually get an interest moving towards bringing in and posting such links and it became successful, I bet the board would warm up to adding a new forum pretty quickly. ^_^
