Chris and I went and checked out Steve's store today, and it is coming along VERY nicely! We had been there awhile back, and at the time he only had FW, but he has a NICE section dedicated to SW now! He has a good selection of fish, inverts (we picked up a Fighting Conch), corals...saw some awesome eels too (if we had an eel tank set up already I would've taken that Dragon eel home with us), sharks, great selection of fish foods, anemones, etc. As far as the corals, he's got a nice selection of mainly softies and LPS at the moment, but will soon be setting up MHs so he can offer SPSs also. ;)

Wendy,

How much was the fighting conch? I can't find those in Houston and I'm coming to Austin soon, think they would survive a 3.5 hour drive back to Houston?

$6.99 + tax each. They are really neat critters - our DSB looks better already! ;)

Sure! You'll probably want to keep the bagged conch in a cooler with a couple cubes of ice to keep him cool...but then again - don't most reefers carry a cooler around with them? LOL - we do - for those "just in case" situations where one "just might happen" to drive by a LFS and "can't help" stopping in. :lol

i know they're open till around 8pm most days.

i'll give another thumbs up to this store. good selection of fish you won't normally find. i've bought both of my triggers here and been very satisfied with good prices and very healthy fish. only thing i wish they had was more corals and inverts.

Steve is working on that, and will have a nice selection soon. The big tank up against the wall (close to the register) will soon have MHs and he's going to stock up on SPS and LPS ;)

Here's a fish that I purchased from Steve at Horizon Pets.

I wanted this fish for my b-day. Wendy wants nothing to do with this one.
I think it will make a wonderful addition to the reef tank. J/K

BTW- has anyone seen my damsels?:lol

R_S_C,

Out of curiosity, did you get the male and female blues?

Not very impressed with this store, they have been there along time and I expected to see some kind of improvement.
The tanks in that place are disgusting, and their coral selection is less than average if you ask me.
Although, they do have rather large fish you dont see too often, but again, there housed in tanks that are utterly disgusting. I would rather spend my money somewhere where the employees spend their time maintaining their stock.

Dont even get me started on the freshwater choices.
